Where Debt Really Comes From
Are you in debt of any kind?
Credit cards maxed out, living paycheck to paycheck, mounting student loans…?
Well, I’ve learned that being in debt is not God’s will for us.
It’s a plan of the devil to keep us in debt so we don’t have time to do the things of God and do what we are called to do.
The devil tries to keep us in debt so we will constantly spend our time working and finding ways to pay off our never-ending debt.
When we can’t pay our bills, we get stressed out, frustrated, and many of us get sick.
This is all the devil’s plan to take our time and attention away from God and what we should be doing for Him.
Well, as Christians, this is not how it should be.
First of all, it is not God’s will for us to be in debt (Romans 13:8).
It’s the devil’s.
God’s will is prosperity (3 John 1:2)
When we owe on credit cards and loans, we are indebted to these companies and have to give them our money every month.
“The borrower is slave to the lender.” Proverbs 22:7
That money should be going towards the work of the Lord and not into the world’s hands ( Deuteronomy 28:13)
I used to have a credit card. I had a limit of $2000. I thought it was the best thing at the time.
I would use it to buy clothes, food…just about anything. And all I had to pay was the minimum payment. Yay!
“This is great, ” I thought, “I could use this credit card for stuff I need now, and when I get that “big job”, I’ll just pay it off.”
Until I realized how high the interest rate was and if I continued with just the minimum payment, I would end up paying way more than $2000.
Not to mention, I never did get that “big job”. I ended up just being in big debt.
My student loan also took “forever” to pay off. I ended up paying way more due to the high interest.
Long story short, no more loans or credit cards for me unless I can pay off the credit card in full every month.
Being in debt is not what God wants for us. It’s what the devil wants.
God wants us to live a life of prosperity, which includes having more than enough to pay our bills etc., meet our daily needs, and be able to help others.
The devil is all about poverty and lack but God is all about abundance.
So let’s wake up and start desiring God’s will for us, which is Prosperity and say no to the devil and his debt mindset.
