Drink Your ABCs
Not only should we learn our ABCs, we should also drink it.
Yes. The ABC drink, which is Apples, no, not Bananas, but Beets. Yes, Beets. And Carrots.
Before you click away from the thought of Beets, you might be surprised to know how amazingly good Beets is for you.
My sister was the one that introduced me to this amazing healthy drink. She told me how it helped her with inflammation and pain a few months ago.
I had some serious inflammation in my wrist and so she went to the supermarket and picked up apples, beets and carrots, (celery too but it’s optional) to blend and drink.
At first I was very skeptical because I absolutely hate eating beets (I would only eat it raw, grated like carrots).
Not to mention it stains everywhere, which by the way I would recommend using disposable gloves whenever you use it.
But anyway, I figured it’s healthy, my hand is hurting and I should give this blended mixture a try. So I did.
Question is, how did it taste?
Surprisingly good. It’s one of those drinks that you think would taste bad because it’s healthy, but actually tastes good.
Even if you don’t like eating beets, this drink is an excellent way to get all the goodness of the beets without having to roll your eyes and eat it.
And no, it does not taste like the horrible tasting veggie drinks out there. It is actually delicious and takes no time to make.
Long story short, I started googling for an actual recipe and I came across one which I now use all the time. You can click on the link below for that recipe or read on to see how I make it.
Here’s how i do it:
You will need:
- 1 Apple
- 1 Beet
- 3 Carrots
- 1 tbsp ginger (optional, but much better with it)
- Peel and core the apple, peel the beets, carrots and ginger.
- Roughly cut all ingredients into quarters, minus the ginger
- Place all in blender and add a splash or two of apple juice or water.
- Blend away and strain out the pulp.
But wait, don’t throw away the precious leftover pulp. Here’s how you can make the most delicious, moistest (is that a word?) pulp bread you ever tasted? I promise you will be making it again and again.
So, there you have it. A healthy and delicious drink that you can quickly make at home yourself.
With all the healthy goodness from each ingredient, in particular the beets, (which is known as a super food), this drink is definitely one to add to the list.
So, do something good for your body and drink your ABCs.
