Cool As A Cucumber Limeade
Looking for a cool, refreshing drink for the summer or year round?
Here’s one unexpected drink you should try that would leave you wondering, “Why didn’t I make this before?”
Cucumbers for the most part have been mostly used in salads or just eaten as another vegetable. However it is surprisingly good and healthy as a drink too.
I came across this wonderful recipe because I got tired of the same-old store-bought not-very-healthy drinks and been only drinking water instead.
But sometimes I want to try something else other than water that’s healthy and tasty (cause we all know water aint got no taste).
This cucumber drink is the perfect substitute. It is 90% water, has many health benefits and very tasty. Yes, please.
It cools you down instantly and is just as refreshing as the ever popular lemonade or limeade. (I personally think it’s better).
It is very easy to make plus you already have all the ingredients in your kitchen, (well you should, anyway).
Here’s how to make it:
You will need:
- 2 to 3 cucumbers, peeled and cut into chunks
- 4 – 5 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup lime juice ( use the store-bought if you feel lazy)
- 2 tbsp grated ginger (or ginger powder to save time)
What to do:
- Add cucumbers and water to blender and blend
- Strain and set aside pulp
- Stir in sugar, lime juice and ginger
- Taste, adjusting as necessary
- Chill before serving and enjoy
Now, isn’t that cool!
Cucumbers are one of the veggies that are often overlooked and sometimes used only as an afterthought.
However, with this recipe, it shines as the main ingredient. It is tasty and healthy and refreshing. Can’t beat that.
With this drink, nobody puts “cucumbers” in a corner.
